Standards for sterilization of medical devices will be developed on the basis of the Institute of Disinfectology of Rospotrebnadzor

The Technical Committee for Standardization (TC 383) “Sterilization of Medical Products” began its work on the basis of the Institute of Disinfectology of the Federal Scientific Center for Hygiene named after. The work will be carried out in collaboration with scientific, industrial and public organizations, as well as with government authorities. They may submit their proposals to the Technical Committee. In particular, these may be initiatives to develop a new state standard for the sterilization of medical devices, as well as comments on the need to revise outdated and irrelevant standards.

The official website of the Institute of Disinfectology contains information about sterilization standards, a work program, a set of rules and other documents that will guide the Technical Committee. The full list is available to all interested parties - manufacturers, medical, scientific organizations, etc.

In Russia, the sterilization of medical devices, among others, is carried out by the structures of the state corporation Rosatom. Thus, in August 2023, Rusatom Healthcare (part of the Rosatom State Corporation, which accumulates solutions in the field of healthcare, medical equipment and sterilization) consolidated ownership of the Akcentre group of companies, specializing in the treatment of food and disposable medical products with ionizing radiation. In 2022, Rusatom Healthcare acquired the share of Aktsentr, which, according to preliminary data, amounted to 50%.

Currently, the state corporation’s subsidiary is independently deploying processing complexes at PharmMedPolis RT in Kazan, Obninsk, Kaluga Region, and Lytkarino, Moscow Region.
