An international group of scientists has created a test to determine chronic fatigue syndrome in the blood

The authors took as a basis the fact that in CFS, the energy function in cells is disrupted. Therefore, in the developed blood test, the result is determined by peripheral blood mononuclear cells (immune T cells, monocytes and lymphocytes). In the experiment, specialists tested blood samples from 61 patients with CFS and 16 without it. The data was then loaded into the neural network so that the algorithm could learn from the information received. After which the approach was tested on 2 thousand cells from 98 patients. The system worked with 91 percent accuracy. In the future, the team plans to continue optimizing the test.

In September, Cornell University researchers showed that viral infections can cause chronic fatigue syndrome.
